Social Security 2018

Along with the new year we have some new numbers that will affect Social Security benefits.

  1. Active Participants will get a 2.0% COLA
  2. The max earnings that you pay the 6.2% Social Security tax on will go from $127,200 to $128,400
  3. The maximum Social Security benefit for a worker retiring at full retirement age is going from $2,687/mo. to $2,788/mo.
  4. The amount you can earn before full retirement age and not have benefits withheld is going from $16,920/yr. to $17,040/yr.
  5. Social Security Disability benefits go up $10/mo. for the non-blind and $20/mo. for the blind.

The numbers you see on your social security statements have a lot more behind them than you may think. If you or someone you know has questions about their benefits, we would be happy to help you find out what circumstances can affect your benefits and how to plan to use your benefit effectively for you and your family.
